Superman Celebration 09

Jun 20, 2009 17:22

I went to the Superman Celebration in Metropolis, IL last weekend. I had to drive down on Friday night, stay in a hotel on the Kentucky side of the Ohio River, and drive back Sunday afternoon. But it was so, so worth it. Easily the most fun I've had in one day in...ever. I enjoyed it a lot and can totally see myself going again next year, or becoming one of the regulars.

Under the cut are some pictures, but not much commentary. I have to admit I spent most of my time running around getting my picture taken with random spandex-ed superheroes, and I'm not posting my RL face here. Maybe in a private post (or those of you who already know my name, I'm on Facebook and so are all my pictures).

Superheroes, superheroes everywhere!

Celebrity Q&A on Saturday:
Beverly Washburn, Noel Neill, Phil Morris, Justin Hartley

Things that were left out of this re-cap:

Not only was Justin Hartley's wife in the crowd, she was sitting right behind me probably getting a really excellent view of my butt crack, due to the fact that I was sitting cross-legged on the ground in front of the rows of chairs set up. Someone set up a chair and brought her in just before the Q&A was about to get started. I didn't realize who she was and found it mildly weird when some woman in the front row sent her small son over to her to over her his seat a few minutes into the event. So when Justin Hartley mentioned his wife and said she was there in response to the question about liking Lois Lane in "real life," the woman whose son had given up his chair pointed at Lindsay (who is very pretty, in that soap-star kind of way) and everybody in the front few rows turned around to look. She did a good job looked modest and gracious at the same time (much like Justin, who suffered through a lot of jokes by the moderator about how all the girls probably wanted to give him a hug).

My big regret: This kid had a terrific YJ Superboy costume, but I only saw him ONCE - above the crowd - for 5 minutes, and then never again. So I didn't get a picture with him. Woe.

Costume contest was held on Sunday, and honestly, the competition wasn't very stiff (the best contenders were in the Villains category)....
