In one word: agreed.

In more than one word: I was definitely happy with Harry's character in this book. OotP!Harry really got on my nerves. In HBP, he's a lot more mature and can handle the weight of everything with a lot more grace. However, he kind of moved on a little quickly from Sirius' death. It seemed like the only time he ever thought about it was when Tonks was around. Draco! My hope for Draco in this book was thoroughly fulfilled. I loved the fierce loyalty he has towards his family. And the scene in the bathroom was my all-time favorite from HP. That weakness that he never shows to anyone. And Myrtle caught on...it's that he's lonely and, I think, quite self-deprecating. Not happy with him as a person, like you said, but I couldn't have wished for a better development of his character.

Ah, the ships. I still am a little irked by them. Well, more than a little irked. But, what are you going to do? I HAD THE EXACT SAME THOUGHT ABOUT THE SPELLS. Seriously, you guys are 6th years and all you can think of is Petrificus Totalus?! Jeez.

HBP still doesn't top PoA for me, but it is definitely second place.

I concur re: Harry's Insta-Grief. (Though it's interesting that we'd been expecting it to dominate his emotional state, and Jo made it non-existent ... certainly didn't call that one.) I would have liked Harry to process that a bit more, not just gloss over it -- maybe it'll crop up once again in book seven?

ZOMG LURN NU SPELZ.
