This is the most beautiful and innovative dynamic sculpture I've seen since Sachiko Kodama's work with ferrofluids.

Damn. But it *could* be done. I figured a small # of the balls had field sensors and transmitters, and the rest had little bits of metal.

Really, first thing I thought and still doubted when watching it frame by frame. Too bad, I really wanted to believe this.
