Won't somebody please think of the tourists?

Though I don't really feel the need to weigh in with my incisive and erudite viewpoints on the current Transit strike, I have to say that the people I have the least concern or sympathy for in this time of crisis are the tourists.

'The strike made getting out of the city difficult for tourists Bernadette and Kevin Calhoun ... "We had to plan around it," Bernadette Calhoun said as the Sonoma, California, family waited outside a hotel for a ride to the train station. "We couldn't count on public transit to get where we needed so we ended up booking a private car, which cost us more money."' (More tourism.)

Poor Bernadette. Poor, poor Bernadette.
