make sure it's valid, have the bank check it for you. cuz it'll suck if you deposit it and it turns out to be a bad check. YOU take the loss.

I second what John said. Double check your taxes again. When you file, it usually tells you how much to expect as a refund or for the unfortunate ones, how much they owe. Haha. A tax refund from the federal government shouldn't come as a surprise since you usually know the amount after filing.
