Good Parenting - Beach Edition

I've been going to the beach lately for some exercise, and I keep seeing kids doing the exact same things I used to do when I was their age. And then it occurred to me that I don't really understand why children even like to go to the beach.

i went in the water alone all the time when I was a kid, but I could swim really well.

But were there big waves breaking near the shore? Where I grew up, the beaches were pretty dangerous for a small child to go in alone, they could easily be dragged in. Except on those rare days when the ocean somehow decided it would be waveless (I don't know the mechanism behind that).

I remember the waves as being pretty big sometimes, but I could keep my balance.

he was awesome! he was super friendly and he autographed my copy of the velvet goldmine soundtrack for me in silver sparkly pen and signed it "love"! I took his picture with my friend!
