"This is Arthur Moreira Lima - Arthur Moreira Lima Plays Tangos (Choros) & Waltzes of Ernesto Nazareth (1982), for Intersound, recorded September 13-15, 1982, at the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters on the Steinway CD 372 piano. Arthur Moreira Lima is worldwide acclaimed as one of the best Frederic Chopin interpreters, being also a successful popular music artist. It is hard to write this in English, Arthur Moreira Lima is the kind of guy that everybody would like to meet in the end of the day in Copacanana to drink some beers, a very cool character and also one of the most renowned tricolores (friends who support Fluminense Football Club, a soccer [sic] team in Rio de Janeiro)."

SO YOU CAN PROBABLY UNDERSTAND WHY I WENT ALL SPAZZY WHEN I SAW HIM LEAVING THE BAR RIGHT NEXT TO MY BUILDING.
I think this was one of the only times I ever wanted to ask someone for their autograph. I WOULD HAVE IF I HAD BEEN CARRYING THIS CD WITH ME:

"To say that Moreira Lima's playing and these recordings are amazing is an understatement. They're "desert island list" and "best of bests, anytime, anywhere, any-kind-of music" items. Nazareth's pieces, specially the "tangos" (nowadays we would call them "choros"), are Chopin meets Africa (via habaneras), and are absolutely essential for understanding the roots of Brazilian music."

COULDN'T AGREE MORE. SO AWESOME.

(quotes from Loronix)

OMGZ. I love him so much. There's a character in my book that is loosely based on him. He's cool and crazy and he loves Nazareth and one time he played a recital wearing a Fluminense shirt. FOR REALZ. <333333333333333333

I guess I will now just sit and listen to the cd from beginning to end.

I love Rio. And Copacabana.
