Fun with the Skype phone!

Jan 08, 2008 17:00

As I've mentioned before, Chris bought a Skype phone and left it with me for now. Today I thought I'd try it out, and switched on Skype while at work.* It's much like texting, except you're chatting, obviously. And like every self-respecting mobile phone, the Skype phone has text prediction. Which turned out to be a bit of a problem. Because - as I soon discovered - I didn't know how to browse through the words text prediction gave me and select the one I wanted, and being on a bus, trying not to miss my stop and juggling documents and bags, I was too preoccupied to figure it out right there and then.
The result was hilarious:

Chris: hi

Ana: hi
Ana: how are you

Chris: I'm good :-)
Chris: and you? How was your first day?

Ana: it xa
Ana: big
Ana: ah
Ana: cant figure this out
Ana: lol

Chris: :-)

Ana: skyre pgone
Ana: lol
Ana: dead

Chris: Ahh. The funny thing is

Ana: wagt

Chris: 'Skype' is not a word contained in the t9 vocabulary.
Chris: Do you want to talk?

Ana: call
Ana: not working
Ana: cant hear you
Ana: have to get off cup room
Ana: econ
Ana: oh dual
Ana: meterming
Ana: i an dead

* - On a bus, going back to the office.

Before long I was howling with laughter and people were carefully edging away from me.

But anyway.

In other news, we found out which play we'll be doing this term yesterday and had the first read-through. Play's called 'Loveplay', and how lovely it is! It's made up of small scenes, starting in the Roman times and going up to the present day. All of these scenes happen in the same place, and all of them revolve in some form around love. So in one scene I'm being raped in the Dark Age, in the next I'm cheating on and pretend-murdering my husband in Shakespearean times, in the next I'm very much in love with my cheating husband, and last but not least I'm a hippie in the 70s well up for some free lovin'. Can't wait to start rehearsing!
