Spina Bifida
The disorder when a child is born with out protection around its spinal column; sometimes its a missing vertebrae or even a relatively exposed nerve.
~ I just found out what Spina Bifida is. I always knew what someone who had it looked like, (my cousin has it,) I never knew what the disorder was.
This weekend I am going to take care of my cousin who has the most extreme form of this disorder. I don't really know how I feel about doing this. Its really good to help my aunt and spend some time with my cousin, however I am going to be gone friday-sunday taking care of a bitter shut-in. The most overwhelming feeling I have is to cry, I know it wont change anything. People will still have disabilities. I can handle being around someone who is bitter, I just don't know how to deal with my urge to cry every time I think of her. I hope it doesn't effect how well I take care of her.
