Speck Woman - (mostly) finished!

And so it is that bit by bit, leaf by leaf, computed breakdown by computer breakdown (because the file became so damn HUGE), I sort of finished the illustration of the Speck woman from Robin Hobb's Shaman's CrossingWhat began as an entry for a contest ended as just a try to use Painter some more, and give justice to Hobb's wonderful character. ♥!

You know, I absolutely envy your way to work with Painter, how it looks apparently easy, and how the light and the textures and the compositions work so well in what you do.

So your comment really makes me proud!

Thank you so much!

That's so amazing! The colors and light and textures and depth...wow! I love the little details of the red flowers in the tree and her jewelry.

Fantastic work!

Thanks so much! I'm really, really glad this worked for you. Especially about the depth... I struggled with this one for so long, and added details and leaves here and there so much that I couldn't see if this pic worked as a whole anymore.

Oh. My. God. This is so gorgeous. This is one of those images that merits a full page in an enormous illustrated storybook. The textures are so real yet ethereal, the lighting so magical, her gaze so probing yet relaxing. I love the scattered flowers as well. I could go on and on, wow.

Wow, thank you! I love that you loved all that you loved, if you take my meaning :)

Especially that the lighting worked for you (I'm using a monitor that is too dark so I'm not always sure what I see is what other people see...), and that the flowers worked too (I wasn't so sure about them), and most of all that the gaze is noticeable :D

Wow absolutly beautiful!
I love the feel, the color, the use of space. The greens of the tree flow so well with the blues and greys of her. I love her dress, I love her hair, I love the leaves, the moss, the debris on the ground, the tree the flowers.
Hell I love it all :o)
Damn I envy your talent

I'm glad the colours worked for you! And the rest as well :D

And I didn't thank you for these great icons you made with my art - it makes me so proud you enjoyed my pics enough to do them!

This is fantastic. I'm awestruck by the detail - I want to pore over every inch of this picture because it seems there's something interesting everywhere. And yet it doesn't feel cluttered. Amazing work.

Wow, thanks so much! I'm really glad the details worked with the whole pic for you. To tell you the truth, I ended reworking it a little bit since I uploaded this version here, because I felt there wasn't enough hierarchy between the foreground and the background. But it's great to know that the first version worked well enough too :)
