I love the snow. I love the people at the snow (most of them). Not overly happy to be in town again, but at least this time I know I'll be heading hillwards again by saturday, or maybe even friday. =) and next week has fewer nasties in store than this one. I need to choose a good day to visit ANU at least weekly. That didn't happpen last semester and should have. silly inconvenient CIT.
aGh CIT, don't let me think about that place. I have not quite done with it yet, and am not looking forward to telling my coursemates that I'm withdrawing... they will not be impressed. SPOOT.
Heheh, If you think that a week of skiing would leave a person feeling tired but fit and kinda virtuous after so many days of being active you are wrong.
Everyone brings good food, lots of food. pancakes and bacon and crumpets and biscuits (mmm minty slices of heaven) and home made things like marzipan cake and coconut cake and gorgeous big dinners and lots of schnapps and port and wine or bundy and coke if you're so inclined and so many hot chocolates and cheese toasties for lunch... many people come down the hill a little heavier than when they went up.
This is pretty much how it seems to work when the lodge is full for a week: You get up and have a nice big brekky to keep you going all morning, ski or board or whatever from 9am til lunch at about 1 (there are a few people who like a good bottle of red with their lunch), then at 2 you go back out and keep at it til about half four when the lifts shut so you come in and everyone sits around talking for a bit with wine and biscuits and various cheeses comparing the day's adventures, then dinner is made and eaten (in rather large portions) and you sit round finishing a glass of wine and talk more or go to the pub or play cards (so much 500 goes down) and someone brings out mint slices or cake and you think "a hot choccy would really hit the spot about now" then by nine the butterscotch schnapps is out....
Dear oh dear.
My slowness on moguls is excessive, i can ski them reasonably really but I'm so chicken about it. they do burn the thighs for sure, but poor L and E and A and E and N have to spend quite a while waiting at the bottom for me to arrive..At least i try to do them properly, don't just skid across the whole hill and back. Tempting sometimes... Thank goodness for slow moving parents, they give the ego a nice boost. =)
must think about unfinished work and baby developmental portfolios. Bleah.
