Just out for some exercise

OOC: Not to be rude, but I'd like it if someone other than Cass could respond to it. ;) You know... someone more serious and who could possibly get along with her. I'd like to get to know Nashira a bit better, and that's only possible if the thread can last a bit longer than six comments. XD ( Read more... )

OOC: Zahidan is like our world, just with a bit more magic around. Well, there is a Zahidan in our world as well... except that's a city in India or something. XD Though people have known about the Middle East since around 1000AD, crusades and such, so... I figure she might at least have heard about it? Maybe not Zahidan, but the Middle East.

The answer that this girl was not taking any classes surprised Nashira a bit. "If you are not taking any classes," she countered, trying to find a logical explanation for this oddity, "then why are you at this school? It does not serve a purpose to be at a school if you do not attend any classes the school offers."

Her eyes then went again to the gun Addy pulled from the holster and offered it to her. Nashira quirked an eyebrow. In her country, no one would offer their guns to someone else. A gun was part of a person. Like the knights in the ancients times who would not let go of their swords unless they were dead, a good soldier of Zahidan would not surrender their gun unless they were dead.

"You... offer me to try it?" As odd as the offer was, the girl had to admit it was very tempting. To be holding such an old gun... something that was almost antique in her country... It almost seemed like a once in a lifetime opportunity that only a fool would decline.

Of course it was all a matter of how you looked at it. Addy had no intention of letting anyone KEEP her guns. But, she was quite proud of them. And if someone could experience what fine craftsmanship went into their creation from a firsthand experience? Well, that was more than fine with her.

"Go right on ahead!" she repeated her offer with enthusiasm. Plus, she figured she sounded very suspicious. And what better way to put unnecessary suspicions at ease than by offering an olive branch. If by "olive branch" Addy meant "revolver".

"An' don't misunderstand...I ain't residin' in the dorms or nothin'. I just set up camp off in' the woods." with her other hand she gestered in the general direction she had come from.

The girl didn't accept the offer right away, despite the enthusiasm of Addy. She wanted to get her explanation first, and her mind tried to put the pieces of this little puzzle together when that explanation came.

"It would make sense if you are not part of the school to be not residing in the dorms and do not join any classes," Nashira concluded. "Though it is still a mystery of how you came here. I have carefully searched the campus before I came here, and I know it is hard for strangers and people not being part of the school to get onto the campus grounds. I also wonder why you 'camp off' in the woods when this town ought to have a hotel. It is a much more comfortable place to stay, especially since the nights are turning colder."

Though all oddities set aside, there was still this antique piece of a gun waiting for her to be touched. A priceless gun, worth more than anything Nashira could come up with. And she could touch it, maybe even try it out a few moments.

She slung her own gun over her shoulder and then slowly reached out to the offered revolver. Her hand glided a little over the metal before accepting it. Although her face did not display any change of emotion, she felt a deep sense of awe for the weapon she now held in her hand.

"Well, that may be the case...but from what I recall, them hotels charge ya a fee." she replied, "An' seein' as how I'm a wee bit short on money, that sorta rules that option out. 'Sides, livin' outside ain't nothin' I haven't done before. I rather enjoy the good ol' outdoors."

She gave another bright and friendly smile as Nashira took the gun in her hand. The girl obviously had quite an affinity towards firearms.

"Now...as for specifics..." she started up again, "As in my comin' to be in this particular part o' the world...that's a bit complicated. Can't say I'm all together certain what brought me here, m'self."

Nashira listened with only half an ear as she examined the gun in her hands. "Well, if you're used to it..." she half commented on Addy enjoying being outdoors. If the girl seriously liked it, she was not the one to tell her how weird it was.

She raised the gun to aim at some non-existent points. It had a limited amount of bullets, and she wasn't quite sure if they were able to replace any lost bullets. No, she'd better not try any shooting. Addy might need all the bullets she still had left.

It was with some regret that she handed the gun back to the proper owner. "Most of us are here to study and learn. If you are not here for that purpose, then I cannot help you either. Though I am sure you will discover it soon enough."

"Ah, it ain't somethin' I can get too concerned over. The answers ain't all that apparent right now, but sooner or later I oughtta get it all worked out." she said. The gun was returned to her grasp and the small detective returned it back to it's holster.

"So, just what are ya hopin' to learn here...if ya don't mind m'askin', o'course." she inquired.

Nashira nodded a bit. If it was something you can't do a thing about, it was best not to worry about it.

"I wish to improve my skills, so that when I return to my country I have a better chance on promotion," the soldier stated simply. "I wish to make my parents proud of my and uphold the family honour. I hope to do that by trying to become the youngest captain, if not something higher, of our army. By following extra subjects abroad, my chances of such promotions increase. I have chosen this school because it is one of the best schools available and they offer the subjects best suited to my job. I can improve my skills in firearms here, and learn how to fight with a sword and bow. I also learn about various other subjects that have my interest and that hopefully broadens my knowledge about the world."

"Quite the noble goal y'got there." Addy replied. The remark was quite genuine coming from the detective.

The answer told her quite a lot. Then again, so did Nashira's handeling of her gun. All the marks of a dedicated soldier.

"So, how's a gal like you get into the military life? It a family sorta thing?"

Most military familyies, from her understanding, had two effects on their children. A deep sense of respect for the service and a complete resenment towards it. And Nashira seemed to be a product of the former as opposed to the latter.

Nashira shrugged at the compliment she received from Addy. It wasn't exactly the kind of thing she was good at, receiving compliments. "It's expected. My father is a general, and I am his eldest child. It's the least I can do for him."

There was still a small rush of pride when she said that, as well at the question asked. Nashira normally didn't talk about her home country, but here was someone interested in Zahidan and she could not help but to feel the urge to explain things to the small stranger.

"Zahidan is a militaristic country," she explained. "Everything is based on the military. There are those who prefer to go for a civilian life, but the best paid jobs are in the military. There are several places where children can receive their education, which of course also has influence on how high you get. My father was able to send me and my sister to one of the best military schools in the country. Though even then, if you want to enter the military, you have to take off an entrance exam. Only the best are allowed to enter. I got in at once. We hope my sister will be able to do the same. Though if I hadn't passed the entrance exam, I would've decided to study abroad. But I found out after one year that I am still not competent enough and that a few more years of education would help to broaden my horizons."
