Out of my new found love for School Food Punishment (a band), I decided to watch Un-Go. I briefly remembered what my friend said to me the last time I watched an anime for a song, but unlike last time I decided to skim the summary of the show and decided that I liked it enough. I also saw a character that appealed to me aesthetically. So I watched it, enjoying the opening song, slightly complaining about the quality, and ten appreciating what happened to the first ep. After the first ep, I was hooked. I would have finished watching all 11 eps if not for my mom kicking me out of the computer chair.
I'm looking for the manga to see if it had more insight compared to the anime. Unfortunately I only saw 2 chapters and these weren't even the first two. Imagine my frustration. Haha
I was curious so I checked what other people had to say about it. I was shocked at how negative people looked at it. At least, to the people who didn't bother to watched a bit more. They complained about the lack of character development, the lack of backstory, and "rushed" feel to it. At one point, I read a review that contained the writer's problem with the "lack of realism because the main guy relies on this supernatural chick" shenanigans. I honestly don't know if I should laugh at that or what. I didn't comment on anything since it's their opinion and I respect it regardless if we have the same view or not. Plus, I know I am partial to the anime and I would instinctively regard to the negative comments. It was still a mood damper though. I still like Un-Go and I still think it's awesome but I don't know if my friends would appreciate it or diss it like so many others. /sigh
I am weird indeed.
