Are you a Satisficer or a Maximizer?

Miss my LJ and i just noticed that i have not made a post since august.. *sigh* Real Life can be really time consuming ><

Anyway, I just want to share this thing to all of you...

I was reading an article on how to be happier and this part just hit me big time!

" Don’t insist on the best.
There are two types of decision makers:

A. Satisficers (yes, satisficers) - make a decision once their criteria are met. When they find the hotel or the pasta sauce that has the qualities they want, they’re satisfied.

B. Maximizers - want to make the best possible decision. Even if they see a bicycle or a backpack that meets their requirements, they can’t make a decision until they’ve examined every option.

Satisficers tend to be happier than maximizers. Maximizers expend more time and energy reaching decisions, and they’re often anxious about their choices. Sometimes good enough is good enough. "

I am a certified Maximizer. Maybe because its a girl thing :P And men tend to be a natural satisficer. Last friday, my boyfriend bought a laptop and he only tested it for 15 mins! Btw, I did all the testing! :P I said to him that he was just like buying an underwear and i really urged him to test the laptop more but he said that he was already satisfied on my testing so that's it. Though he was already doing a lot of research about that item for about a month so i think that's why he was already decided on the time we were on the shop. On that same day, i bought my new cellphone (its motorola Rokr E8 btw :P beautiful! ), and it took me 3 malls and 1 hour on asking too many questions to the seller before i bought that cellphone. I admit that it was really tiring and my boyfriend was already having major headache by the time we were on the 3rd mall :P But I think that it was really fun! (im also a certified shopaholic:P my boyfriend has to cover my eyes every time im pointing to a really good dress or lovely shoes *lol* and he would pull me to opposite directions:P lovely ><) I also made a research about that cellphone in 1 night and i know almost all that it can do but i still asked a lot of questions when i was purchasing that cellphone:P I said its a girl thing because i believe that we girls just love to find the best deal! If im interested in an item and if i believe that there were items just like that but cheaper, then i'll choose the other item. It will satisfy both me and my wallet:P I never had the experience of being an unhappy maximizer :P Yes, im tired but i think its all worth it in the end. I think i've never been a satisficer in terms of making huge decisions. Maybe i should try that so i can compare which one will be better :P

How about you? Are you a satisficer or a maximizer?
