After seeing
how well liked High School Debut apparently is, I decided to take a quick break from my
attempt to get past volume 9 of Fullmetal Alchemist to see what it was like.
I guess I'm just too disconnected with the shoujo-lover mind. I read a few chapters, and I can see how it's better done compared to some, but...? I couldn't even see any difference between it and the usual stuff besides that. *shrug*
I liked the very beginning of Kodocha, but then it got all middle school soap opera pretty fast. I liked the Nana anime pretty well waaay back when I watched some of it whenever that was (and keep meaning to pick it or the mannga up again, but I just...never feel like it? I just appreciate it when I'm watching it and forget about it any other time. ^_^; I'm that way with a lot of heavier things, I think), but other than that I can't think of any actually romance-centered shoujo I've liked at all. But it seems like there must be something that appeals to me out there somewhere that's lighter and up-beat...
...Maybe it's the sense of humor? Romantic comedy movies usually bore me, too, but I love About A Boy and was amused by Bridget Jones' Diary I think... The cynical edge might be a requirement for me. ^_^ (Then again, Skip Beat had that some and I still didn't really care one way or another about it, though it was a lot easier to read than many. ...Too overdone/gaggy?)
Maybe I should stop trying to read things that I don't have a real interest in, heheheh.
