Chapter 693: Once Again

Sorry guys, I don't have time to put pictures into this, but I've tried to make up for it with a longer-than-usual discussion.

Thanks for the review! Never mind it's without pictures - I think most of us do this only because they think the end is near.

So I am rereading now the chapter, and apparently the conflict is mostly about the Tailed Beasts. Also it seems to be about breaking the Jutsu Kaguya put on all the people of the world. Sasuke talks about the Rikudo telling them how to do this using the chakra of the Tailed Beasts, so I wonder what the Rikudo's plan was. But maybe at that time the Rikudo had not realized that Naruto had made friends with the Tailed Beasts.

Sakura and Sasuke: if we did not know that in the end they'll be together Sakura's behaviour would be unbearable. Being in love with him for several years even though he has made clear to her that he is not interested in her. And Kakashi even tells him that he should have some pity for her because she has loved him all the time. I mean, if she was the man and he was the woman it would be clear that this is bad: No women is under any obligation to accept a man just because he really really loves her. If she does not return his feelings he needs to accepts this and look for someone else. Now if the roles are reversed, the same is true, only that a girl is rarely perceived as a threat (though there have been female stalkers.) If this was in any way a realistic story, telling Sasuke that he needs to feel some kindness towards Sakura because she has always been in love with him is a no-go. No, Sasuke is not under any obligation to feel anything for her, and Sakura needs to cope with it and find someone else. (Well, I have written some yaoi, and then too Sakura had to come to terms with Sasuke being out of reach.)

But of course this is not a realistic story, so holding fast to her love and remaining true to Sasuke is praised as some kind of loyalty and firmness, instead of being censured as a failure to accept another person's feelings (or lack of feelings) and to come to terms with reality. So in the end Sasuke will appreciate that Sakura has always staid true to him and will accept her love.

Concerning the conflict between Sasuke and Naruto: I don't see a contradiction between thinking that the ninja system is all broken and becoming Hokage through the support of other people. The problem is not whether the kages were supported or not, the problem is that little children get trained as killers and that some of them are turned into jinchuuriki. (On the other hand, I think that this is just some kind of "gift" for the readers who have always wanted Naruto to be stronger than Sasuke.)

"No women is under any obligation to accept a man just because he really really loves her"

- I have to disagree here, the creepy stalker approach has worked out quite well for Obito.
One of the main themes of this manga seems to be "you can get it if you really want" so I'm afraid the story will end in pure wish-fulfillment for teenage boys. Naruto the underdog will get the girl/the Hokage seat and wins over that cool popular guy from school in the overblown version of a playground brawl.

Well, yes, in this story things are a bit different than in real life. I think I remember that someone mentions that it's a bit creepy that Rin finally accepts Obito.

And of course, you have forgotten one important point: In the new generation it will be the girls who get the boy they love because they stayed true to him even though he was busy with a lot of other problems. Hinata will get Naruto, and Sakura will get Sasuke. Only Naruto has to accept that Sakura is not in love with him (and I think he has accepted this a long time ago.)
