Summary
In the white void that is the Naruto-verse afterlife (or a waiting room for it anyway), Obito asks Rin if she'll wait for him a bit longer. He wants to help Kakashi since he's currently unable to do anything useful. Obito teleports back into the real world and manifests as chakra, inhabiting Kakashi and explaining he wants to give him a present: two sharingan eyes, making Kakashi, once again, "Kakashi of the Sharingan."
Meanwhile, Naruto pins down that pesky Black Zetsu so he can't intefere. Drawing on the power of the tailed beasts, Naruto uses nine rasenshuriken infused with their unique powers. These hit Kaguya and cause her to transform into a massive misshapen rabbity monster. Black Zetsu worriedly notices that his 'Mother' appears to have no control over this form of the juubi and speculates that Naruto's attack caused the chakra of the tailed beasts to try and separate.
The monster sends out chakra arms which absorb one of Naruto's clones. When the arms go after Sakura, Naruto tells Sasuke to save her, only to be surprised when someone else's Susanoo gets there first. The someone else being Kakashi.
Thoughts on the Chapter
• Now it seems Obito has finally left the manga. Unless he appears in more flashback panels. I didn't like him very much as an adult at first, but he grew on me. R. I. P.
• I thought Kakashi getting the Sharingan (two Sharingans!) was a bit stupid, but I can't really complain about it since far more stupid things have been happening in this manga for the past few years. And ghosts in Japanese folklore do have special powers (for instance if you dreamed of a ghost giving you something it was supposed to be under your pillow when you woke up) so it's something I can tolerate. At least he's useful again.
• I make no secret of the fact that I find Kaguya to be an utterly boring antagonist. The Akatsuki, Orochimaru, Kabuto, Obito, Madara - all of them made far more interesting villains. Kaguya is a
Space Flea from Nowhere with very shaky motives, and now she's a giant blob monster. Given how little personality she has this might actually be an improvement. BUT, her assuming this monstrous "final" form might be a sign that the plot will move again, so it's possibly a good thing.
• What will Black Zetsu do next? Only time will tell.
