Chapter 488; The Villages

Mar 26, 2010 21:32

It has been a very busy week for me, but how could I start the weekend without a new chapter of Naruto first?

The new chapters starts very technological. Someone named Tenga (Googling that will bring you to a lot of 'adult' websites...) is having a teleconference, and is asking all the Daimyo if they agree with the Joint Ninja Force. They all do, though the Water has a hard time giving in. The scene ends with the Daimyo of the Fire saying that "we'd better let the Leaf Village know."

This seems to be a chapter filled with various settings, because later we see the arrival of Gaara and his siblings back at the Sand, and also the Mizukage is back home. People are asking them what the feudal lord has said, or they are telling the kage's the news;

Ah, so that's why the leaders made their mind up... And while the Kage's were travelling back, the teleconference took place... And note the typo in the Binktopia's scanlation. I'm sure they'll remove it later :)

Change of scene; we're back in the forest where four persons and one dog are snoring peacefully while Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi with Karin on his back make some small talk. Sakura seems embarrassed after Kakashi saying to her that she should apologize after they wake up. Naruto can't help it, but he flops down next to them, falling asleep.

Karin must be feeling a lot better, daring to make that remark!

Kiba is the first one we see awake again, and he's not a happy camper. This part of the chapter seems to be comic relief, though Kiba has a point here;

And Karin notices that Naruto's chakra is the complete opposite of Sasuke's; "warm and bright", but she also notices;

Before she can finish her though three masked ANBU'ers (actually, there's from Root) step forward to ask Sai what's going on. It's Sai who says that the seal on his tongue is gone (didn't the others not notice this?) and the Root guys ask if Danzou passed away. He also breaks the news to them that they need to have "a long talk" with the new Hokage, Kakashi.

Talking about the Hokage, on the next panel we see a nicely built wooden house where someone calls "Tsunade-sama" It's Shizune, scaring everyone;

Back in Konoha, and apparently at a workplace near the new built wooden wall, the Rookie 9 have a little meeting. Naruto breaks the news that he's going to fight Sasuke alone, though he angers the others (Kiba especially) because he doesn't give them an explanation. Shikamaru ask if he's going to protect Sasuke, which Naruto denies. And he says that despite that Sasuke is stronger, he can't let the others face him, fighting. He doesn't want to tell them that in a fight they both will die, though Sakura wonders what Naruto's hiding.

The last part of this chapter is about Kakashi, meeting the two Elders, who are going to support Kakashi because "there's simply no choice". But when the Daimyo is officially appointing him, the meeting is disturbed by the sudden arrival of an ANBU and a weeping Shizune. Tsunade has recovered...

And the very last page of this chapter is for Sasuke and Madara. Madara apparently has transplanted Itachi's eyes, and he asks if Sasuke is in pain. He isn't, he feels Itachi's power flowing into him...

Technology in Naruto again

When we just started this community, Senior_witch and I were wondering about the technology in Naruto-land, where apparently there are tv's, washing machines and airco's, but where we've hardly seen vehicles. I remember that when I finally saw this in filler episode 199, we had a good laugh.
This chapter started with some interesting technology; an antenna on the roof, satellite dishes and (big?) batteries. We've already seen tv screens, but seeing so many of them operated together in a teleconference certainly was new. So those messenger birds must die out; there *is* technology available to have a meeting while everyone is at home.
I was wondering if the Daimyo are all sitting in front of a screen and a camera, or if they only can hear each other. But that also was answered in this chapter; (grrr watermark...)

All in all;

All in all, I was a bit disappointed with this chapter. It wasn't very 'substantional'. There are *counts* at least six different change of scenes, and there isn't that much going on. We do see the Daimyo agree to join forces against Madara and Akatsuki, the rookies return to Konoha, Kakashi almost installed as the new Hokage but then the news arrives that Tsunade has recovered. In fact, the biggest news is on the last page, where Sasuke has decided that getting Itachi's will help him to win his battle. I was hoping that he wouldn't give in, that he would do it in his own way and that he would ignore the helpful Madara. And Tsunade's recovery of course.
Oh well, we'll see what will happen next week. There's a lot of wood in Konoha now, which can burn nicely... And I have a feeling Kishimoto will keep working a bit longer on Naruto, since he has avoided the big Naruto vs Sasuke fight now.
