Chapter 01
Every time I turn around, I hesitate
Talons grunted as she opened her eyes. Her head felt like she had gone against one of Mik's dinos and lost. And the rest of her wasn't feeling much better. She pushed herself up and frowned in confusion. The last thing she remembered was being on the comm hall and then...
Screaming. The sound of breaking glass. A scaly hand...
"Kirby!" The girl looked around and saw the passed out bodies of her friends laying around her. 'They are unconscious! Just unconscious! Wake up, come on, wake up!' she thought as she shook the nearest person to her. "Wake up! Come on! Kirby is missing!"
Nise grunted and opened her eyes. Around them, the rest of the girls began to wake up due to Talon's shouting. They looked around in wonder as they found themselves in the middle of a forest. But it was unlike any forest they had ever seen. Certainly it didn't look like anything on the Fandomly's Island.
It was dense and oddly shaped, like something that grew nearer the tropics than their island was. The ground was a shade of yellow they hadn't seen before either, a colour more seen in bananas than on the ground. And some of the trees were odd colours too, or had strange flowers in them. "Where are we?" Kulta wondered aloud. "What is this place?"
"Where is Kirby?!" Shouted Fufu, looking around frantically for her fiancée. 'Where are you?! What did that thing do to you?!'
"Where?" A sweet voice echoed. Cure gasped and turned. There, a little further was a girl with curly hair looking around her in confusion. She blinked her eyes as if that would change what her eyes were seeing. "This is not... Where I was before... My glasses? Where?..."
"Tina...? You are... awake?" Cure asked, approaching slowly, like one would do to not scare a wild animal. "How do you feel? You have been unconscious for so long..."
"Unconscious? But I was... I was... Where was I? There was a battle... And then... It was a... Dark place... And a voice..." Tina whispered, almost to herself. Cure embraced her gently, feeling almost deliriously happy. They might be lost in a strange place, but Tina was awake again. Surely they would find Kirby soon and find their way back home. The rest of the girls surrounded the two, some looking suspiciously teary eyed (well, Mik was crying on Shiny's shoulder, but no one blamed her).
"It's alright. You don't have to tell us just yet." Cure replied. "Here. I kept this for you."
Tina nodded gratefully as she accepted her glasses, but still stared a bit dazedly around her. Cure almost bit her lip in concern but tried to look as calm as possible for the younger girl's sake; they had to remain calm. Frightening a person who just woke from a coma couldn't be a healthy thing to do. Tina opened her mouth as if to question them farther, but a voice interrupted her from doing so.
"Heartbreak shot!"
"What the! MOVE!" Talons shouted and dove, pushing the nearest people to her crashing into the rest of the group. A bullet impacted the ground a second later, leaving behind a good sized crater.
"My, my, look who is here for tea~" The girls looked up to see a flying creature who was pointing a large gun at them. Talons growled as a familiar man emerged from the foliage, waving his cane cheerfully at them. "Hello, my dear~"
"Tea?! You tried to shoot us, you bastard!" Talons shouted back at the man, shaking her fist at him. 'God damn it, why did this pervert had to appear now?! And what is he planning to do?!' "What did you do?! Why did you bring us here?!"
"Me? I did nothing, my dear~ I was invited here, just as you were." He waved around and the digimon landed, keeping its gun pointed at them. Talons felt dread fill her as she realised exactly what digimon it was. 'Beelzebumon'. "I couldn't miss the chance to have a tea party with my favourites, could I?"
"Invited?" Cure asked as she pushed Tina behind her. "What do you mean?"
Tine gaped as she stared at the curse, feeling like someone had punched her in the gut. "Now they are real?"
"Looks real enough for me." South dead panned back, keeping a tight hold on North's arm. The other girl looked rebellious, but didn't fight to free herself.
"What do you mean to play?! What do you plan to do with us?!" Mik shouted, glaring at the man who continued to hunt her. Shiny tried to push the girl back, but Mik shook her off and faced him squarely.
The man waved his cane at them and gave his most shark like smile. "Well, we actually planned to have our tea party at our host's mansion, but someone interfered when we were bringing you there. As it is, only your friend, Kirby I believe, is waiting for you at the mansion. Our host sent me to rectify the situation. Wouldn't want her to feel alone, now would you?"
"We are going nowhere with you! And give Kirby back!" Shouted Talons furiously. 'How do we get away from this creep? And how do we get Kirby back? We can't take a digimon on our own!'
"I will cut you if you hurt her! And make wedding decorations out of it for the ceremony!" Fufu cried. Khonts and Kao had to jump over her to stop her from running towards the curse. "Let me go! She was my puffball!"
Seme curse shock his head and shuddered. "Now, now, there is no need to get like that, is there? You just need to come quietly and all will be fine."
The digimon turned to look away from them and peered into the foliage. It shouldered his pistol and turned to his partner. "You better cut the chatter out. We will have company soon."
"Oh? So they managed to give them the slip?" The man pointed with his cane towards the forest. "Well, come along then."
The digimon motioned for them to start walking. Talons glared, but Ven pushed her and forced her to start walking, while Shiny dragged Mik after them. Kao and Khonts struggled to drag Fufu with them, Cure and followed behind them, helping Tina move along between them. The girl seemed like in a dream and would had remained where she was if the other two didn't lead her gently along. Treyen and Kulta brought the rear, trying to keep both digimon and curse as far away as they could from them.
They had been walking for maybe ten or fifteen minutes when they entered another clearing. They had almost crossed it when a blur emerged from before then and crashed into Beelzebumon. Seme Curse had to ungracefully dive out the way to avoid been crushed. "Come on! While he distracts them!"
"Pizza curse?!" Khonts gasped as what looked like a man emerged dressed like a pizza chef, complete with a pizza box. The curse proceeded to throw the box at the British curse and then produced a second one from thin air to do it again.
"Hurry! Gamer and Flamenco won't be able to keep the others entertained for too long!" The chef pointed deeper into the forest and disappeared back into it after throwing a final pizza at its fellow curse.
"The dancing bull too?!"
"Phoebus Blow!"
"Darkness Claw!"
"Damn you, Pizza!"
Talons glanced at the two digimon fighting; the pizza covered man and nodded. "Come on, follow him!"
"Tine, move!" Turtle shouted, pushing the girl on. "Who cares if a flamingo showed up to saves us at this point?!"
"Here! To go with the Pizza!" Pyro shouted and threw one of her bombs at the curse before Stream shoved her on. The Curse let out an oath, forced to run in the opposite direction to avoid being signed.
The girls began to run as fast as they could after the chef, but Cure had trouble to keep up with Tina as she was. "Keep going!" Pizza curse shouted and doubled back. It lifted the struggling girl in its arms and began to carry her as he ran. "Hurry!"
But no matter how fast they ran, the sound of battle was never far off. And soon, they began to hear the sound of other battles around them. Ven shivered as she ran, huffing as she did. 'How many are after us? How many of those are with Seme Curse?'
"Hurry up! They are catching up!" Pizza curse led them on regardless of the noise, pushing them to continue running despite the exhaustion, until they reached a sort of tower covered in strange symbols, half hidden by the foliage. There were two figures already waiting for them there.
"How fabulous! You all made it!"
"Wait! You are here too?" Shiny demanded, pointing at a man so fabulous that it looked like he was sparkling.
"What the hell is going on?" Tine whined more than asked and felt like curling into a ball. Treyen patted her on the back, but said nothing as she too stared at the curses before her.
"Indeed, the fabulous me is here to help you~" The man grinned and waved back at the forest from where they had come from. "Couldn't let that unfabulous man hurt you, could I?"
"He managed to get a lot of you." Chocolate curse interrupted. "If we had more time, I would give you some chocolate... Here, Pizza." The man handed a sack of something to the pizza chef and turned back to the group of girls. "I think we are too many to move together. The flying digimons will see us easily from the sky. We should split up or we won't be able to escape from them."
"Probably. I didn't expect for them to be so many." Pizza turned back at them and counted quickly. "...Over twenty? We would be easily seen like you said..."
"You and Fabulous better take Tina and Talons with you. Seme curse is probably going to be hunting you. And Uke." Chocolate curse replied. "Tina looks like she is too out of it still to walk, anyways, so you are going to be carrying her for a while..."
"We should take the fabulous Mik and Shiny with us, then." Fabulous pointed out. "Gamer and Flamenco will be trying to keep them off our tail so you will be on your own, Chocolate."
"That would still leave us with groups to big to move around." Chocolate pointed out. "...I think I should take the bigger group and meet with Flamenco so to split it among us."
The Fabulous man frowned and waved at the forest. "That would leave only Gamer to distract them, Chocolate."
"It would be more dangerous to move in such big groups than having only Gamer throwing them off our trail." Pizza stated. "Okay then. Take care of yourself, okay? You will be in bigger danger until you meet up with them."
"Sure, we will meet again." Chocolate grinned back and turned to face the group. He smiled at the group warmly, just like a cup of hot chocolate. It helped to calm them a bit, to see someone so sure that everything would be alright. "Okay, who is going with me, then?"
"But, what about Kirby?" Fufu asked. "What will happen to her? What... will they do to her while we run? Can't you save her?!"
Pizza curse bend down and placed Tina gently on the ground. It approached Fufu and put and hand on her shoulder gently. "I'm sorry, but we can't save your friend on our own. We barely managed to keep you from being captured by Seme Curse. But we will help you save her, okay? They won't hurt her. They know you will come to save her. She is their bait."
"But... We can't simply leave her there!" Fufu protested.
"We aren't abandoning her, my fabulous girl." Fabulous curse replied. "My dear girl, we are just making sure you can save her. If we go now, we have no hope of winning against them. You will not save the fabulous Kirby, you will fail her."
"Please understand, Fufu. Kirby wouldn't want you to endanger yourself when there is no hope of success." Pizza added. "I'm sorry, but we can't lose any more time. They will catch up with us soon, if we dally too long."
The girls looked at each other nervously but moved to join one group or the other. There was no time to lose. They would have to move fast and trust the curses to save them. There was nothing they could do on their own. Cure looked at her friends who were going with Chocolate curse and felt like crying. "We will meet up soon, right?"
"Of course, my fabulous girl. We will keep you safe and we will reunite you with them soon." Fabulous reassured the girl, patting her gently on the arm. "Just trust us, okay?"
Cure nodded, moving to stand next to Pizza curse. The chef bent down and picked Tina in its arms again. The girls gathered around the curses they would follow and trusted now to keep them safe. There was no time for questions now.
"Stay safe and take care of them, okay?"
"Of course." Chocolate waved back and entered the forest.
"Stay fabulous!"
And then, they were gone.
