[[Set about an hour after
this thread--Kureno's spar with Asuka.]]
Kureno's mood was still foul, partially from his irritation and partially from the fact that he wasn't able to rationally justify his irritation. He was running too much on emotions right now, which he wasn't used to and which was consequently causing his mood to remain foul.
Normally he would have holed himself up somewhere to stew and think about it. But the day was still too good, and the jounin had a feeling he could really use the fresh air right now. There were plenty of private spots around the village one could find that were still outside, but Kureno found his feet taking him to
the Hokage Monument to stare up at the faces of Konoha's great leaders.
It was a very open spot, but when unoccupied it was perfect for feeling alone. Surrounded by open air and the muted sounds of the village, it promoted personal awareness while remaining unable to forget the lives and futures that laid beyond one's self--"duty" was probably the word. Currently, and likely for only so brief a time, the monument floor was empty and Kureno stopped there to seriously slow down and clear his head with a few minutes of meditation and stillness.
When he looked up again, it was with a deep breath and calmer spirit. Tempests still lurked beneath, but for now remained docile and controlled. Waiting. Kureno's red eyes continued to travel up the mountain, coming to rest particularly on Sandaime's face, studying the edges, rain-smoothed surfaces, and unsightly crack that had appeared upon her death. While his gaze absorbed the detail, his mind was coming to a conclusion.
...I am such a JERK.
