The sun was high in the sky as Kakami calmly walked through the streets of Konoha. A book was in her hand and a pack slung over her shoulder

You'd think Sakurai would be used to this by now. None the less, there was a distinct wear down the center of the road where Sakurai had been pacing.
"Don't even answer that! It's NOON. NOON! We were supposed to meet at nine AM- DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT NINE AM IS? THREE HOURS, SENSEI! THREE HOURS LOST! We are SO behind schedule it isn't even funny!"
After so many years, Sachiko is still not used to Sakurai's loud voice.
"We knew she would be late anyway." she said, shouldering her bag.
Raising a neatly bandaged hand in greeting to Kakami, she said a casual "Yo." She was in an unusual good mood, despite having so many things go wrong yesterday. It was mostly because of the fact that she finally had a mission without the blonde. Finally.
"Maa, maa..." Kakami smiled easily, a hand scratching the back of her head in a sheepish fashion. "I saw a kitten playing with a ball of yarn and stopped to ponder the innocent lifestyle of such a creature."
If anything, that would probably drive Sakurai even more insane but Kakami merely kept smiling and shifted her pack. "Ne, are we all ready to go?" she continued cheerfully.
"YES. YES WERE ARE. AND HAVE BEEN. FOR THE LAST THREE HOURS." Sakurai repeated, as if he had not been heard before. Why did no one listen to the only one with any sense!? If Naruko were here, she'd-!
No. No, he did not catch himself wishing Naruko were there. On a MISSION.
Sakurai turned on his heel and stalked out the gate, leading the way without another word.
Well...that was to be expected. Still, it had been rather a long time since she'd been at the end of the pink haired boy's temper. It was...nice. In a nostalgic way. Kakami glanced at Sachiko and smiled breifly again, before she started following Sakurai.
They would be heading for a village on the border of Fire - it would take several days at the most. It was a simple mission - a guard mission for a week or two. Kakami didn't expect a great deal of trouble on the way there.
"Three hours." Sakurai muttered to no one in particular, taking out a small notebook from his pocket and flipping it open, scribbling some things in with a pen while he mumbled "...account for meals, minus .5 here and here, carry the two..." Yes he was planning on how to make up for lost time.
He found math soothing and had done all the quizzes he brought with him while waiting for Kakami to show.
"We don't need to waste time eating or resting" Sachiko said, feeling... talkative. "I can go without food and Kakami had enough time during those three hours to get something to eat."
Sakurai was wasting time doing math again. It was never something she preferred to do. Training and getting stronger is much more important than numbers.
"And we can always eat as we walk." Kakami said with a bright smile. She'd heard enough lectures from Rin to not risk losing more wieght - and all those lectures about Gaia's rants on metabolism and how proper diet was so necessary...
The ninja nearly groaned, rubbing her face. If she was hearing Gaia's voice then she really did need to get away for a while.
Just as Sakurai opened his mouth to argue on the importance of keeping their energy up, Kakami spoke instead.
"Thank you sensei." He said, happy someone was agreeing with him in some way or form. "While the travel time will likely not be long enough to require rest I won't have you neglecting it on this mission, there are three of us, and that should give us more than enough time to catch a few hours each. - Reading PORN does not count as 'rest'." Sakurai said, shooting Kakami a glare. "- Neither does 'lighter training'." and that second was for Sachiko.

She looked up at the cloudless sky, face set into her happy frown.
Nothing can go bad today.

Really. Girls.

A displeased hn escaped her lips. Who was Sakurai to tell her what to do?
Oh, right. Her caring teammate. His tendency to force her to do what he thought was right pissed her off to no end. Her good mood quickly dissipated.
Sachiko adjusted her bag and stomped to the front. If she wanted to break her bones, it's her own fucking problem.

Funny. Not even an hour into the mission and both seemed sour tempered. Kakami really did miss Naruko now.

.75 hours lost made up due to increse in speed, things were looking good.
Sakurai was distinctly singing under his breath.
"X - X by the tangent of N, N minus pi over 10, that equals negative 9, negative 9 is so fine..."

Surprised, Sachiko whipped around to find the source of the singing.
Sachiko stared blankly at Sakurai, Sakurai singing?
"What the fucking hell is that song?"
Reply
There really was not a reason for her to speak like that to her teammate...although Kakami was wondering the same thing.
Singing about math was a little scary, in Kakami's opninion.
