[Action Thread][Illusions of Truth][Closed to Kabumi and Kureno]

It was early morning when two anbu guards escorted Yakushi Kabumi from her cell. Of course, in the Torture & Interrogation cells, there's no clock or daylight to tell you what time of day it is. Here, it was as though time did not exist, but rather the imprisonment and torment stretched into a slow, unchecked eternity. But it was early morning ( Read more... )

Something was wrong.

Kureno concentrated on the genjutsu but found nothing wrong other than his instincts trying to scream something at him. At first he tried to squash them down, believing that perhaps they were nothing more than some bottled up emotion trying to rise to the surface. But the more he felt for the cause of trouble, the less convinced he became that it was something of himself, the jutsu, or Kabumi, which left only one last option open.

Something was wrong from without--an outside interference.

Reluctantly he began to recoil the genjutsu, casting a sleep spell on Kabumi as he did. He didn't really care to deal with her in person himself and certainly didn't need the fact that an outside disturbance had forced him to drop his illusion.

It'd be hell to cast this again on the chakra reserves he had left, and it might even have to wait until tomorrow. Rubbing the bridge of his nose at the headache that threatened to come on, he looked towards the ANBU by the doors.

They had their weapons out, and were standing ready by the door, one slowly creeping closer to it to take point. The thickness of walls and doors kept nearly all sound out--which made it ideal for casting jutsu like this one--but in the silence of these halls, nearly anything out of the ordinary could perk curiosity and caution. There was certainly no excuse for the nearly muted cry that whispered its way in through the cracks.

"What is it?" Kureno asked, still not entirely coherent himself.

However there was no time for either guard to answer or react as the doors to the room nearly exploded open.

Sasoriza knew how to be a systematic creature if needs called for it - and she had absolutley no issues with systematically tearing apart the T & I division until she found who she was looking for.

And as always, it was in the last place she looked.

Leaving a trail of corpses and soon-to-be-corpses in her wake, Sasoriza strolled onward with her twin salamander puppets behind her, and her scorpion puppet at her side - and burst straight through the last door in sight in a flurry of blades, poison and wood glistening with blood.

The two ANBU were sliced to ribbons before they could do more than wave their katana threateningly. And when Sasoriza turned her head with inhuman grace to face the last person standing in the dark, smoke-laden room his chances were no higher than theirs had been.

"I am so pissed with you people," Sasoriza sighed, watching the man's crimson eyes widen.

Fun to watch for a moment, but when Sasoriza's teal eyes trekked to Kabumi's still form on the floor, she decided it would be more fun to see what other parts of him were red.

And lashed out with her scorpion's poison-tipped tail to skewer Yuuhi Kureno flat to the wall with blade through his gut.

(move)

There was hardly time to react, (move) it all happened so fast and Kureno's mind was still too phazed from bringing himself out of the genjutsu to (Move) think of what he was supposed to do next. (Move!) He watched the guards who had the misfortune of being the closest targets become annihilated in a speed that mocked their position.

The enemy's words drew in his attention, and it was then that Kureno (Move!) began noticing the other details.

A puppet-jutsu user… (MOVE!)

He watched their eyes focus on the prisoner.

They're here for Kabumi...?

Something moved.

(MOVE!!!)

And so did he. But not in time.

At first, it felt like his stomach and the bottom half of his left lung were trying to run away, and they gained such a tremendous individual strength all their own that they were literally pulling him back with them. (He was going to throw up.) He only barely registered the spear-like weapon that disappeared into his left abdomen before he hit the wall and the back of his head cracked against the concrete, leaving him to stare dazed at the ceiling, momentarily suspended. (He couldn't feel his feet.) Then it ripped itself out and he yelled with more blood than scream. (Gods it HURT.) He buckled and slumped to the ground, landing sitting up-right and leaving a blood trail on the wall. (Something under his skin felt like it was burning.)

He tried to speak once and only managed to cough up more fluid. Focus fading, he watched as Kabumi's body was taken away then his neck muscles gave out and his head dropped, leaving him to stare at the gaping, oozing wound (hole) made just below his chest.

His first thought was a miffed, Wow, that's a lot of blood.

He didn't really have a second.
