A Good Luck Send Off [Open to all Konoha at the Jounin Exam]

ooc: takes place after Akatsuki fight and Sound fight (link TBD). I figured something this general (a good luck dinner for the examinees) would be a nice way to be social. There was never a final list on attendees so if you want to jump in please do. Exams themselves are pretty undefined but if you want an NPC to administer it, I've had a few ideas about exam possibilities. Otherwise, I'll eventually post an announcement that we're back in Konoha sometime around September 1st and you can post your result then.

The trip to Iwagakure had been relatively uneventful. After all, it was impolite to attack your enemies when exams were going on. Not just impolite, but illegal under the rules that governed chuunin and jounin exams. In fact, the only Village people were worried about was Sound but based on intelligence reports, everyone had upped security on that border so nothing was getting through (well, at least that was the hope).

So Tsurude should have felt at ease but instead had been snappish and stand-offish to anyone who dared approach him. The missions that had been in progress before he left had gone had ended in near failure and he wanted to blame everyone involved but found he could only blame himself in the end.

He took a sip of the sake in front of him and cleared his mind. He needed to perk up because he knew that the assembled group was reflecting his mood. And all he needed were for the chuunin participating in the exam tomorrow to be distracted because their Hokage looked ready to devour the next person who came too close to him. Diplomacy was something you learned and Tsurude was approaching mastery of it, so he put on a large smile and stood up from his table, getting the attention of the group of people who had converged for Konoha's official good luck dinner for the examinees.

"I just wanted to take a moment to wish our test takers good luck tomorrow," he smiled. "I know this exam will test you both physically and mentally but I have faith in your abilities to overcome anything they throw at you. Konoha has trained you to be the best, to never back down from a challenge, and most importantly to never turn your back on your comrades." He paused and cleared the bitterness from that last statement.

"Make Konoha proud, don't lose me too much money," he added with a forced laugh before sitting down and going back to nursing his cup.
