I have a tragic, onesided romance with the Montreal transit system.
I keep giving it more and more of my hard-earned money every year, faithfully, at the end of every month. And it keeps leaving me in the lurch :(
For instance, yesterday, Montreal had its first snowstorm of the year, and since everyone in the city is used to snow, of course we had complete chaos. The bus didn't come for twenty minutes, the metro was down so I had no alternative, and there was even some lunatic setting off firecrackers in the park by the bus. FIRECRACKERS. Excuse me, it's a blizzard, does it look like the Fourth of July to you? Because it isn't.
And today I tried taking the same bus, and the same thing happened - the bus was twenty minutes late - and then we got delayed because a fleet of police cars closed Sherbrooke. I heard people shouting. I seriously thought there was another shooting at Dawson OTL Instead it was the Olympic torch on parade, which was interesting for five minutes, but I'd been up since 6:30 and work is stressful lately. I did take some terribly blurry photos, though!
BTW I apologize for not evincing sufficient interest in that pinnacle of pharmaceutical achievement, the Olympics, but the combination of sports + political posturing + tremendous waste of money doesn't really appeal to me. Yay, another opportunity for Israeli athletes to get boycotted, awesome!
And besides it's the Winter Olympics, which I don't think anyone really cares about. Yay, Canada! We're number 1 at bobsledding!!!
So basically that's two days in a row I spent an hour and a half on the bus ride home. On the upside it means that I dodged all the psychopaths in bulldozers clearing the snow. :E
In other news, my dad flew off to Israel yesterday. In an apology for leaving for a month, though, he made sure to stock up on essentials, such as soda. However, he was apparently so anxious that he only looked at the price tag and not at the label, and bought a lifetime supply of Pepsi instead of Coke. Including diet Pepsi. Dad. Why you gotta break my heart? :(
...I'm sorry.
