I thought I would make a list of all the manga I'm currently following, since some of these don't seem very popular and I think they're pretty good. I can get pretty rattled when I run across someone who dislikes something I like, though, which is a bad habit ^^;;;
This list focuses on stuff that runs in the weekly magazines, so Cooseltel is not here. Also, this is in large part an excuse to talk about Mx0 ^^;
Jump
Jump stresses me out because they cancel series like crazy, whether they're at all close to the ending or not. THAT IS NOT CRICKET. Other magazines don't do this! And it's not like they can just move to another magazine afterwards...
Mx0 by Kanou Yasuhiro - I looooooove this manga because of the genius story (Kuzumi, who has no magic ends up in a high school for wizards and has to survive on his wits) and Kuzumi himself, who is a great tactician, but still a total DORK and starts
crying when his crush makes him a lunch. XD; The
contrast between his cooler-than-you bluffing and his terrified interior monologue is just really funny! He also makes great faces, like
this and
this and
this. Actually, I think Kuzumi crying in joy just makes me laugh, period.
It's really a bit of a fanservice comedy, but it's not of such a level that it really annoys me. The latest arc was also a bit boring but the most recent chapter, 53, ends with a great cliffhanger! Hiiragi, what are you doing? Is Kuzumi finally going to learn magic..?! (Besides the Mx0 spell.)
(No I'm really excited. --;;;; Next chapter NOW PLZ.) Anyway, the 4th volume is due out next month...
Sunday
In Sunday I mostly follow Detective Conan - I'm INTERESTED in Konjiki no Gash but the actual storytelling/art style kind of annoys me so I mostly read summaries instead of actually reading the story. ^^; Hayate no Gotoku is great, I read it when I can get a hold of some. But I'm the most emotionally invested in Conan, although I only really pay attention when there's plot happening. Lately, though, every single chapter has plot! Is Aoyama heading towards an ending? I was wondering whether Tell Me a Lie would ever get turned into a continuing series, though it's just as likely that he would pick up Magic Kaitou again first. If the series ever ends, which it won't.
I'm still not convinced by the apparent death in a recent chapter, though... (Sorry, Angie. XD)
Shonen Magazine
Air Gear - I feel bad for reading this sometimes because it's Oh! Great. But man, can he ever draw! And it's another Kazu story arc...? I read this series just for Kazu. And the art.
Fairy Tail - New series by Mashima Hiro, author of RAVE. I still blink at the parts that are a little too much like One Piece, and Natsu (meaning summer) is not as fun a main character as Haru (meaning spring) (is your next hero going to be called Aki (meaning autumn), Mashima?!) but I like Gray, and there are some really neat concepts in this story. My favorite story so far was the one where the Fairy Tail guild of wizards has to hunt down a missing book...
You may have noticed that wizards are a common theme in stories I like. :P
Tsubasa - I said some of these are not popular? Hahaha. >_> Kind of fell out of the fandom for a while because I'd been buying the Del Rey volumes of this and Holic steadily, and it's expensive (in English, anyway) and a little tiring to focus on only two series at a time. Also, this series works much better in book form than when you read it a chapter at a time, IMO, and the Tokyo story was just aggravating. Oh look, it's X. I hate X. But recently, I read a whole pile of chapters at once, and wow, Clamp is at full power lately!
Anyway, my most current theory is that the reason 'Syaoran' is so worried about Watanuki is that his Sakura's life is tied up with Watanuki's...
I was also going to add in my reply to Ed here, but this post is already quite long so I'll leave it at this.
