If DUES were JE's or J&A's or whoever's attempt at securing the #1 spot of the 2008, it would be a failure. The sales of subsequent weeks should be lower than that of LIPS/KtF, judging from index numbers. The packaging for DUES is very nice - solos/promotional appearances/PV - but I don't find the song appealing as an actual... song. It's sort of near the bottom of my singles preference list. =P
For the general public, it doesn't fulfill its 'purpose' as a dance song, it doesn't have particularly interesting/emotional/sentimental lyrics, the instrumentals are unique for Japanese mainstream, but not creative or experimental, and the performances were average. This more or less means that it's only going to appeal to the fanbase. Unless >8 versions are released for that purpose, a song with a big commercial campaign/drama should be able to blow it out of competition.
Any of this only matters 'if DUES were JE's or J&A's or whoever's attempt at securing the #1 spot of the 2008'. It seems like it was, though they could just be trying to make up for a drama tie-in. lol.
104,864 + 51,136 + 21,873 + 11,829 + 11,157 + 8,680 = 209,539 x 1.82 = 381,672
... I feel sort of proud that I was right with my prediction ~_~
