talking to an old christian lady

I've been visiting a home for the elderly yesterday, to see an old man who has become my friend. While I was with him in the park, I also met an old lady again. We came to talk a little.

She's a christian too. She spoke much to me about being a child of God, and about being "bekehrt" ... a german term for having repented. It's an oldfashioned term, and it is slightly different from just meaning repentance as in having repented yourself. It means more like "having been repented" ... as if God works repentance in us, as if God turns us around if we come to Him willingly.

She also sang some old christian songs to me, which I'd love to get to know more about. She's over 80 already, and so she's a bit tired of life. One of her songs was "Who knows the way into the city above? I am so tired of life down here..."

Her eyes were so full of light. And she had such a sweet old voice. She invited me to go to church with her today, and that's what I'm gonna do, God willing.

I'm thankful for having met her. She reminded me a little to my grandma, she had the same blessedness that I think my grandma had, blessedness in having faith. I think our God loves her very much. And He's very pleased with her. Many Saints in Heaven will be glad when she arrives.
