Fuzzy Wuzzy Yuletide Buzzy
My Marmie threw a Channukah party last night, whipping together a buffet-spread of brisket, tzimmis, gefilte fish, bean salad, smoked carp, red cabbage casserole, challah, and naturally, ye olde latkes. I baked a crusty white bread for the occasion, and made a vegetarian chopped liver. There were several other families there, and a small handful of my own friends.
I officially inaugurated last night my very own version of a Dreidl Drinking Game. For every time you lose a coin, you take a drink. (Today I have a headache.)
The grown-ups were jealous of all the fun we were having. Next year it's gonna be Strip Dreidl.
And tomorrow my family becomes Christian For a Week: we shall decorate a tree, make some gingerbread dough, listen to The Messiah and roast a bird come Monday. More food. We shall however become Jewish again for an evening - specifically, on Christmas Eve, when we shall go out for Chinese food in honour of my mother's sixtieth (woa) birthday. More food. On Thursday we shall have some 40-ish people at our house for a sixtieth-birthday-party. More...food... And then New Year's with my dear friends, methinks at my apartment...oy, the food...
