Rating Community

I had joined a group on here called "non-ugly fats." I thought they were one of those groups trying to teach people to revise their idea of beauty. They have an "application" process where you post some pics. I received all NOs and wrote to them to ask what's the deal. They explained to me that they are "a rating community" and I wrote back the ( Read more... )

You know, when someone says something like:
"please leave the internet", they totally reveal how vulnerable they are.

My answer to such:
"Hmm. Interesting. Are you saying that if I *stay* on the internet, then I'm actually BOTHERING a stupid, self-absorbed, immature little twit like you, and ALL I have to do is NOTHING? Wow. You actually have to do work to bother me, and all I have to do is just stay here. Hmm.
This is gonna be easy and fun. So, how about-
no. I won't 'leave the internet' JUST TO BOTHER _YOU_."

LOL. You don't know how much I wanted to say something like that! But I'm a social worker, and I can't help but consider what inner workings (trauma?) move people to be mean-spirited and lash out at others like that. It's sad, really.

That's very generous and understanding.

Such people do need to be taught rather than to simply be punished.

But IMHO, sometimes there comes a time when an education is best effected by a judicious application of negative reinforcement for bad behaviour.

Pointing out that they don't get to make the rules is hardly an abusive slap. You're not quashing dissent, by simply owning your own right to reciprocity.
Pointing out that it's their *choice* how to respond to you is simply a lesson in problem ownership.

I think I opened a can of worms. They have the whole community attacking me now. How sad.

Oh, and they were talking about me being "new on the Internet" and what they don't realize is that I'm not reading their stuff on that site - it is still coming to my email because they are replies to my original posting. Duh.

Poor baby. Poor poor snarky little baby.
Poor poor poor pathetic little urchin who just can't resist saying something nasty just becuase you can and just because you don't have to face the person who you think it's okay to hurt.

Poor little wretch. Now you have to endure *consequences* for having spoken your wicked little trash, and having someone say something back.

Poor poor little savvy internet baby.

Look. If you don't like what happens when you insult someone, the answer is simple.
Don't do it.

This never would have happened if you'd just kept your immature little mouth shut, and just resisted the urge to say something wicked on the net that you wouldn't to this lady's face. And you SURE as hell wouldn't lecture me like this to mine.

So tough.
Take it bitch.

Actually, that would be my reply to them for complaining about the replies being annoying to them too.

If you go to:
http://www.livejournal.com/manage/subscriptions/
You might be able to turn off the notification, even though you’re not part of the community anymore. I don’t know if the community settings override your ability to do it from the subscription-side, but you can try. That way, you don’t have to continue to subject yourself to the drivel.

Thanks. I wasn't worried about it, but apparently they've sicced the dogs on me. I've had 48 messages from people like "iworshipsatan" in the last hour. Geez, people, get a life!

In the community, I guess. I am just still getting it because it is part of the thread to my original post, which I can't delete.
