It's not enough of an insult that Learning Style Inventories are a complete crock with absolutely no supporting evidence, or even that it has been repeatedly shown, in direct contradiction to the theory, that students will do better when lessons are involve multiple learning styles than one learning style, even when that sole learning style has been specifically geared towards a student's "individual learning style" as measured by any of the fraudulent learning style inventories - and yet I must write a page claiming to have designed my unit around the completely imaginary learning styles of my students as measured by these stupid tests.
No. I, who am not currently teaching and have no access to real students to plan for, must MAKE UP THE RESULTS of such an inventory for HYPOTHETICAL NONEXISTENT STUDENTS and write a page PRETENDING TO HAVE DESIGNED MY UNIT AROUND THIS MAKE-BELIEVE STUDY.
I also have to make up the IEPs and demographics of my pretend students, but this does not bother me so much because IEPs and socio-economic backgrounds, unlike "learning styles," are actually real things that may affect my teaching in the future.
