Narnia Big Bang Challenge: Information and Schedule

Oct 02, 2011 18:00

Hello everyone! As promised last week, here is the complete information on the Narnia Big Bang. It includes writing and art requirements, the schedule, and FAQs.

Note: we have included links to the signup posts, but those won't open until October 23rd. So for right now, the links will take you to a locked post. Signup posts are now open!

It's all back here... )

This is exciting!
When signing up, would it be necessary to choose either the BigBang or the MiniBang, or could this be chosen at a later date, depending on how your work is going along?
Also, I've never done a BigBang before, so apologies if this is a silly question - does it have to be based on a posted prompt? And am I allowed to mix up elements from various prompts into something else?

When you sign up, we're going to ask you if you intend to do a Big Bang or a Mini Bang. This isn't binding, though. If you pick Mini, and end up writing 20,000k words, you can switch to a Big Bang. And if you pick Big, but only end up with 15,000k words, you can switch to Mini. You just need to let us know before the first drafts are due (January 21st), because after that is the artist claiming, and the artist will need to know if they're creating for a Big or Mini bang.

It can be based on a posted prompt, or multiple prompts! Or you don't need to claim a prompt at all, if you have your own idea.

And no worries about silly questions - this is our first time running this, so hopefully it all makes sense. :)

I've never tackled anything this huge, and I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little bit scared. But the more I hear about this, the more I really just want to jump in. So I'm pretty excited now, it sounds like it'll be a lot of fun (and a lot of heartburn, haha)!

Allowing WIPs is so great, because I totally have a WIP (Narnia and HP!) that's been sitting on the back burner for years, literally, so thank you for including them!

Yay, I'm glad you're excited!

It's a good kick-start for WIPs, I think. I am hoping to use it for that myself. :D

For those of us submitting WIPs, should we include our current word count during our sign-ups?

Also, thought it's a looooong way off, will posting of stories be drawn out/extended/staggered for chaptered fics at all? I know I had a hard time keeping up with reading/reviewing daily postings of the longish stories from the NFE! I'm also interested in both giving/receiving feedback per chapter rather than per story...

So excited to again participate in a well-supported and (thankfully) well-structured challenge!

Yes, that would be good.

I'm not sure yet how we're going to post them. I think it depends on how many people actually participate - if there's only a few, maybe devoting a week to posting each story could work, but if there's more, we'll probably post one a day. I might do a poll and see what people think. I know there are some people who have complained in the past that the NFE posting a story a day was too long and drawn out.

Glad to have you on board! :D
