Alison and Gil's House in Braintree, 19 August 2004
My parents and I went to go visit my cousin Alison and her then-fiance (now-husband) Gil at their new house in Braintree and to see my Grandma Bea who was living there at the time. While my parents were out eating at a restaurant, I stayed to have dinner with Ali & Gil and my younger cousins Lauren and Carolyn came over; my youngest cousin, Susan, was off at summer camp. After my parents returned we all hung out and chatted for a while. Please excuse the lack of makeup and puffy eyes.

From bottom right, counter-clockwise: me, Grandma Bea, Alison, Carolyn and Lauren.

Me, Grandma, Ali, Carolyn and Lauren again.

Do you know how difficult it is to get the Arnold family to look in one direction and make the same facial expression at the same time?

Yeah, about that difficult.

Lauren sitting on the living room floor eavesdropping on a conversation like any good member of my family.

Gil and my dad talking about something -- although knowing my dad, he was talking and Gil was listening throughout the vast majority of the conversation.

Carolyn and my mom sitting on the couch in the living room.

Carolyn, Mom, Ali and Gil on the other side of the room.

Carolyn, Ali and Gil with Gil holding his creamsicle away from Alison for dear life, though the latter is only noticable if one knows Ali. ;>

Mom's Birthday Celebrations, 19 August 2004
On the day of my mother's 53rd birthday, aidan_skinner and I went to Livingstone's Restaurant in Billerica with my parents and then back to their house for yummy chocolate cake.

Mom sitting in the living room listening to my dad who was in the hall.

The decor of my parents' living room probably says a lot about why I am who I am. So does the fact that my mother is yelling so my dad can hear her down the hall.

Aidan and I sitting on the couch in my parents living room. Photo taken by my dad on his camera.

And again, with Aidan putting away his snazzy mp3 player. Taken by my dad.

Can you tell I come from a Jewish family by the amount of stuff my parents had given us? Taken by my dad.

Aidan and me deciding on what to have for dinner at Livingstone's in Billerica. The karaoke going on in the bar was awful, but the American shrimp cocktail (with proper cocktail sauce!), oversized mozzarella sticks (with proper marinara sauce!) and veal medallions I had were delicious. Taken by my dad.

My dad loves being behind the camera but hates being in front of it so I didn't bother taking any of him; then he bitched at me because I didn't. I can't win. So this is rare.

This is rare as well.

My mother's birthday cake. And her feet.

And another one with the cake and the feet.

I was trying to get the perfect picture of my mom's cake...

... But I didn't mean to get more pictures of the cake than of her.

Make a wish!
