A quick post because there is pie about. In my house, pie is a matter taken very seriously...like if you don't get it while it's there, better wait for the next holiday.
Thanksgiving was great. For the first time in what seems like ever, none of my grandparents were here for it, which was...weird. And sad. And weird...because the non-vegetarians now outnumber the vegetarians. Like 3 to 1. Poor mom. Anyway we did end up having company over in the form of my two cousins, one whose studying here from abroad at NJIT and one of the doctor shaped ones who works in NYC. As usual we made entirely too much food, my brother teased my mom about not being able to cook (referencing the casserole incident of 2002), the vegetarian chili was awesome but SO spicy, the pecan pie was over in 5 minutes, and mom was falling over after the third glass of wine. Hee.
Friday was spent at the office, trying to get over the food coma. And what better way to get over a food coma then to eat MORE food? I don't know how they convinced me but my co-workers and I ordered from this Afghan Kebab house on 9th ave. Best food ever and definitely a re-order. We got out at 1pm since it was dead, and I debated on going to the gym (being the dubiously proud owner of a NYSC membership). In the end, laziness won out and I went home to sleep.
Saturday was spent with the morning at the dentist, the afternoon asleep, the evening shopping for christmas cards, and the night chatting. Today was dropping my brother off at school day, with a detour back to the mall (this is Jersey, we love our malls), and a matinee of Happy Feet (which is awesome, go see it if you haven't).
And now I'm going for the pie.
ETA: Probably the last one to mention this but I have my list of addresses for holiday cards this year. If you've a) never received a card from me and want one this year or b) changed locations and haven't received anything from me this past year at the new address then let me know via email or comment what your address is. Thanks!
