That's fucking ridiculous. I know that we're not wired the same, but seriously, being asleep is the lamest excuse to miss class ever. It doesn't matter if you only get 2 hours of sleep or 7 hours of sleep, you need to get to class. You've been to what...like 1 out of the 4 last astronomy lectures? 2 out of the last 4 quiz sections? Did you even turn in your assignments? Yeah, it's an easy class, but that's when you actually show up.

I know that I'm just making it worse by lecturing, but I care about how you're doing so it pisses me off when you can't make an effort to just get the fuck out of bed.

As someone who sleeps through her morning class semi-frequently (and not by choice), I can tell you that it's not always a matter of laziness. When you're woken up suddenly after only a few hours of sleep, I've found that your brain isn't always working at 100% power, and thus you don't have the best decision making skills nor are you entirely aware of, well, everything. :P I don't know about Naria, but I've also been known to shut-off my alarm while I'm asleep if I'm exhausted enough.

I agree, sleeping through class is lame, and I know that you're just trying to look out for your friend. But try to remember that not everyone works the same way you do before you get hostile, kthnx.

The same thing used to happen to me too, and it was then that I realized it was because I hit the snooze button so many times in the morning :< I unintentionally got used to the alarm, hitting the snooze button became a conditioned responsed. Very bad thing to do. So I switched things around by having three different alarms set up in different places each night, and I get to school every day (unless I get sick, but I try to make it anyway). About a year ago, if I accidentally stayed up all night(like, a few hours past my normal bedtime), then I wouldn't sleep at all just so I wouldn't sleep through my alarm. Incidentally, I crashed a few times in class @_@ DO NOT TRY THIS ( ... )

Instructors will usually understand your problems if you tell them ahead of time(like during the first few weeks of school) and might be a little lenient towards some assignments... But not during the last week of school. Well, there's a small chance, but the reasoning is "What took you so long to tell me?"

you have a very good point, one which i wrestle with atm, cuz i'm really afraid that my grades have HORRIBLY fallen due to missed assignments. but i'm going to talk to my T.A. today, and hopefully set things straight. i don't expect to get any of those points back, but i do want to know what i missed and go over those assignments.

Haha, that's about the sixth time someone's asked me that this week alone (and I'm pretty sure four of those times was Chili, as she has no short-term memory). ;P I'm flying back on the 19th, but I won't really be back til the 20th, since I probably won't get back to my house until after midnight. Gaaaaah, I wanna go home right now! ;____;

okies, i guess i can deal with that. but just so you know, we're having a crazy-awesome party* the weekend after xmas, so you must be there! OR ELSE!

* and by party, i mean my parents and sister are leaving me alone in the house that saturday/sunday, so bring a tv series that we need to watch in less than 24 hrs or some such. otherwise i'll be looooooooooooooooooonellllllllllllllllllllllllllllly~

ohhhh tough love.

meg, i want you to know (even though we talked about it irl) that it was not by choice. i didn't go 'oh, i but i feel that getting 10+ full hours of sleep is more important than going to class!' at any point in time. and if you think that i did, then obivously you don't know me as well as previously thought. as c_p said below, basically, one can get used to their alarm going off every ten minutes for over an hour and still not wake up. and that's what has happened to me. only i don't have the luxury of putting my alarm anywhere i please in my room because of my roommate. and oh yeah, i hear her alarm go off every morning too, and it still doesn't really wake me up.

however, that doesn't condone what others have written here. i understand that you only want the best for me. and that you're getting the message across in your own special way. and even if what you say hurts a little bit, i guess, thanks? cuz i get basically what you're trying to say.
