Today I removed my own stitches, using a combination of hydrogen peroxide, tweezers and very small scissors. I was supposed to get them out yesterday, and because I don't have a primary care physician and would have most likely had to wait five more hours in Urgent Care, I couldn't go to do it until Sunday, my day off. By then the scar tissue and/or infection could have been much worse. So I Googled how to remove stitches, bought supplies, and did it myself. Irresponsible or self-sufficient? I'm leaving it up to you. Clearly, I've already made up my own mind.
