So a bit more on last weeks big scare. First off, the news is that Bill may very well loose his job by June 1st. That means both of us will be unemployed.
Last week his employer pulled everyone in and told them that the state contract that they service was being held up and that a couple of agencies are fighting and so the contract has not been signed. There is a very, very real possibility that the company will have to close its doors if the contract is not signed by June 1st. But the employer has left everyone hanging and as of last night nothing has come down from the higher ups one way or the other and Bill has started bringing stuff home. Bill can't even tell the people calling in for orders their orders may not be filled or at the very lest get your order in by such and such a date. The company has already been letting people go over the last few months and Bill has seen friends loose there jobs which has really upset him.
None to say it has been hard dealing with the uncertainty his bosses have created while we also have to look for a new place to live and both of us to find new jobs. We've been coping but I'd be lying if I said it has been easy to deal with. No matter what, we will know sometime this week. Right now we are going forward with the notion that he will loose his job and planning accordingly.
I know we don't have it as bad as some, I just have to watch the news to see that. We'll be okay no matter what, that much is certain 'cuz we got each other. I'm just getting tired of drink'n lemonade.
Beyond that, Big Wow was a bit underwhelming. I really enjoyed hanging with Des, Ken and Rich. I've not had much of a social life as of late and having them to talk with was a huge treat and the best part of the weekend. The con was just not well attended, however. Everyone sold something, I sold 6 comics, but we all fell far short of making our money back. There were several other major events going on in the building and surrounding area and Big WoW just didn't advertise very well. I did get to see Denise Crosby and Adam Huges walking around and a reviewer from I Smell Sheep website took issues of InterSections and Protectors to review.
Well back to drawing and looking for work. I hope the week is good to you and yours and that things start looking up for everyone.
