my mom was diagnosed with late-onset Diabetes this last Monday. Its hard to come to terms with the fact that she's getting older... she's one of my best friends.
Interestingly enough, she's had a membership to LA Fitness these past 2 years and went only once... with me. Tuesday I agreed to use her free one-week pass and work out with her... and found myself signing up on her membership!
I'm back into weight lifting again! And I must admit I really missed it. Agreeing to be my mom's workout buddy was a good decision, not only cause I get to get back into shape again, but because I can help my mom maintain the drive to exercise too which will really help with her Diabetes.
So Tuesday, yesterday and today we went and we'll be going tomorrow as well. I believe my long-term schedule for exercise will be Tue, Thur and Fri. I'm actually excited!
Last time I lifted weights, I went down to a fairly toned size 12 and lost 30 lbs! That was only 9 months too. Imagine what I can do if I keep up with it!
Hopefully my mom will benefit a lot from this as well. Gotta get her healthy now.
