Audiofic

It's been in my mind a while that there's a niche for audio in fandom
that hasn't been explored yet. About a year and a half ago, I recorded a
reading of my short fic, 'Oh To Be In England' just for the fun of it,
and a few people on my flist have heard that, though I didn't have the
software to make MP3s at the time and it took a lot of time to download
the .wav file. One of them commented that it reminded them of library
audiobooks, though I'm sure professional readers do a much better job
than I. And since then, I've wondered about the potential for audiofics.
I know that I would welcome some readings of fic. I could listen to them
while I do my very boring job, for example. As it stands, I don't get
much opportunity to read fic these days.

Anyone willing to do some ordinary decent reading into a microphone? One
doesn't need to be a Oscar-worthy actor to do that. I'm not, and I'd
love to try. What I'd like is to get permission from authors to do a
recording of their fic on MP3 and we could set up a bit of an archive, a
very casual one, maybe just a list of links, for such readings.

So, what do you think? All perspectives are welcomed. The idea's only
beginning to form in my mind.
