Narcissa Malfoy nee Black is a straight line. As a child, she imagined her mother was a circle; curled in on herself, and lacking judgement. Her father, on the other hand, was blunt and forceful, an exclamation point. Andromeda arched, turned. And Bellatrix undulated, twisting and unpredictable. Lucius is very similar to Bellatrix, and Narcissa is comfortable in this predictable turbulence. Draco, however, is akin to her other sister. This is what worries Narcissa. This is why she is ignoring her sister and out to betray the Dark Lord in the dark of night. She knows Draco won’t be ready.
