What is all this stuff for anyway? What is it good for?

Today I got one of those emails that says if you truly love God you will forward to at least ten people. Lately I have been running into many emails and myspace bullitins just like this one. WOW this is getting on my nerves. Not even so much that these emails exist, but that people actually forward them, as if to say "see, I love God!" Or perhaps they don't care what others think and only repost/forward because of their own conscience. Do people actually think that God cares if they forward the email saying that they are not ashamed of God. Do they honestly think they will arrive at the pearly gates and God will say, "sorry you didn't forward that one email...I can't let you in, there is no proof that you truly love me..."

Gosh darnit people there are better ways to show your love for God than in an email!!! LIVE IT!!!! Stop concerning yourself with petty things such as myspace bullitins and emails, look at the BIGGER picture. I know I fall into this trap quite often, being overly concerned with things of minimal importance, for example, should I be wasting my time and thoughts on this entry, who cares? what am I even proving? and to whom?

But then is everything we do of complete minimal importance? Going to a movie, reading a book, riding a bike. Simple little things we find pleasure in, do they really matter? Where do they get us? Regardless of if they matter and where they get us, we do them anyway. I am not sure that they are bad things, perhaps they keep us sane. But then where can you draw the line? At what point does something become "important"?
