Whoops!
It took something like a half-dozen entries before I, too, had commenced to whine. Why do so many LJ entries sound whiny? Better yet, why did mine?
Reason Number One: (Okay, this is obvious) You can't go back, can't step into the same stream twice. No current experience can compete with memories that have had twenty years to become rosy.
Reason Number Two: Am going through a period of extreme dissatisfaction with my own art, trying to get it to say what I mean to express, so perhaps it is making me look overly-critically at *everything*.
In the "Is it sad? Is it funny" category:
Looking at print based on a curvaceous stone sculpture of a goddess from Sumer, the observer says it clearly describes my anger at how women are portrayed in fashion magazines...
Looking at a print based on a fairly anal rendering of the drapery on a roman sculpture, the observer says it looks like an abstract rendering of modern dance.
I love fashion rags. Modern dance leaves me cold. Where does this stuff come from?!
Conclusion: back to the drawing board, as it were. Best cure for the whinies.
