Aldo has spent a good portion of his life around men who do nothing but flap their lips. Military types, braggin’ and posturin’ like if they puff themselves up enough, they’ll be able to shoot a man square in the eye and watch his brains splatter across the ground without losing their lunch.
Well he knows that type ain’t gonna last long out in the field, where the only things that matter are the shot from a rifle or a stab of a knife. Words aint’ got no place on a battleground - something Hugo Stiglitz knows better’n than anyone.
Aldo once heard a sayin’ - ‘Still waters run deep‘, and every time he takes a gander at ole’ Stiglitiz silently scraping away at his knife, Aldo knows that them waters run deeper than anyone could guess at. And when Hugo gets within ten feet of a Nazi, those waters come spillin’ over until the blood is flowing under their boots. That’s how a real soldier works, that’s how a man with a vendetta and a iron gut works, and Aldo would take that over a pretty word any day.
