This is just a quick post, before I go watch Cool Hand Luke with my mom.
Over the past few days, school has gotten out, which was a welcome relief followed by realization that I need to start working on my personal project.
On thursday, I went down to Garmisch to help with the summer reading program. On the way there, I watched this movie called swing kids, about kids rebelling against the Hitler Jugend. Christian Bale was absolutely loathsome in his role as the backstabbing asshole traitorfriend.
I was dressed as a knight, and this awesome little kid who was obviously gifted kept asking me questions.
"Are you by any chance related to LAncelot the Brave?
"No, but my first cousin is Galahad the Pure"
"AHA! Galahad, who also is Dennis the Mud collector. IN SPAMALOT!"
"Woah...dude, a 3rd grader who knows spamalot."
To my sister, who was dressed as a princess:
"Have you ever been kidnapped by a dragon? If so, what type? Norwegian Ridgeback, Hungarian Horntail, Chinese fireball..."(he went on to name every type of Harry Potter Dragon.)
Very Precocious, he made my day.
While I was down there, I bought this poster:
It's kind of a supplement to this one:
I now have posters of the two coolest CG characters ever. Even though Jack Jack from the Incredibles is probably on that list too.
Heading home from Garmisch, we hit suicide-inducing traffic, and were stuck on the road for a total of 4 hours, in which I managed to watch the movie Equilibrium AND most of The Iron Giant. I arrived home and called Jenny, who had been waiting with James for me to come over. I got my dad to drop me off, and we ate surprisingly good lasagne, considering Jenny cooked it. We watched Newsies, Garden State, part of Gold, and part of a laughably bad movie James brought, Center Stage. It was fun. A highlight was when Jenny jumped of the couch screaming, "EEEEWWWWWW I've got cat spit all over me!"
Today I went to this Fourth of July function at the consulate, and ate free mcDonalds. I spent most of the day in my dad's office watching Backdraft. It was very good, even though the love interest part (Jennifer Jason Leah) was of Ben Affleck-esque acting talent(two expressions, one serious and one semicharming/pretentious).
This has lasted longer than I intended. I'm going to go watch Cool Hand Luke now.
