i think may is supposed to be cheaper, yes. as for beaches... i think pattaya is not nice. the beach is not pretty and the food is expensive and not that good. very very commercialize, busy and not relaxing at all.

if u dun mind, u can stay at my townhouse by cha-am beach. it's about 3 hours from bangkok. can go to hua hin too in half hour. got a few places of interest too. can sleep by the beach chairs on the beach. as for food... you will need transportation, and i'm not sure how to get it there. there are some food within walking distance but i don't know if there're good. i like those stalls by the road that i just point to the animal i wanna eat, and then they'll just steam/bbq it for me rite there. (price for cooking food is 20 baht (10 baht for sauce), don't get ripped off).

setbacks :
1. there's no room service to clean up, bring u fresh towels and top up shampoo and drinks. in any case, let me know if u like to stay there.
2. not close to any hotels in case u wanna contact them regarding places of interests and tours.
3. i don't know how transportation works.

the best is to get those tour packages, so u dun have to worry much.

but if u'd like to stay at my cha-am place, just let me know.

my house in bangkok is not ready yet to offer you tho. =(
