Ah, free time. And plenty of time to spend cat-sitting in the Treehouse. I have long suspected that a cat would love it here, and the theory has been confirmed this week. Which of the many ledges will she bask atop next? This cat is usually independent and aloof, but now, she follows me wherever I go, meowling expectantly. I almost can't bear to leave her to procure my weekly groceries.
In other news, I have started to branch out into non-Bluegrass tunes on the cello. My latest technique has been the 4-note arpeggiated slurs, which highly resemble a boat rocking atop the high seas. Mindblowing! I'm definitely seeing improvement, but suspect my skills are still dwarfed by those of the average second grader.
I won 3rd place in a friendly Texas Hold 'em tournament last night. Since it was getting late, I kept on getting tired and impatient, which led to my strange hair-trigger ALL IN reflex. But it made for a very exciting match.
Marketing Speak Eats My Brain:
I just got off the phone after confirming receipt of my new BofA credit card. But before I could do so, their automated system kept me banging my head through TWO fear mongering advertisements, with mock-apologetic guilt techniques when I declined. The first offer was an "opportunity" to "protect my credit card account" in the event of my sudden incapacitation. Um, sounds like a thinly-veiled ploy to sell me LIFE INSURANCE. The second offer was all about protecting my account against identity theft. Apparently it only costs a dollar to enroll, and I get to find out if anyone is ruining my credit. Excuse me, but I can get a free credit report without your service, and how exactly does this protect me against identity theft in the first place? And isn't it the bank's responsibility to protect their account holders from fraud anyway? Now I'm seriously considering changing to a bank that will talk straight to me. Is there such a thing?
