Safe and sound (2/3)

So it's been, what? Eight weeks now? Less, maybe. Hopefully less. Still, it has been a long time since I posted some fanfic. Blame mymatedave. No, really. It's his fault. Because his request for a prequel to 'Twas the night before... inspired something that kind of grew and morphed and became horribly complex for me to write for some reason. And the darn ( Read more... )

Chocolatey mush at 3 in the morning hmm? My kids started sleeping through the night past 3 months old but then again I've been told thats pretty good. Shreddies? Do you mean like shredded Wheat cereal because if you do then no! a 12 month old would not eat that. The dry rice or oatmeal cereal that you find in the baby food section of the store might work to mix with Chocolate milk, though, I've never ever tried it. Straight chocolate milk out of a bottle or sippy cup would definately please them. Now taking something like cheerios and getting it good and soggy might work quite well too. When I read this I assume the chocolately mush your talking about is baby rice or oatmeal cereal mixed with chocolate milk. At a year old their starting to eat more solid foods. Please ignore this whole commentary to this point motherhood has driven me insane. (:

I'm really enjoying this story so far, especially Dawn and Willow's conversation and the uncomfortableness between Buffy and Xander after Xander walked in on Buffy and Angel's kiss. I wish I could write Xander even half as good as you do. Anyway, I am enjoying this and I can't wait to see the next part of this story. (:

I am a terrible fictional baby father *hangs head in shame* I'll fix the Shreddies problem on the edit. Thanks :)

I'm glad you enjoyed this part. And hey! You write Xander really darn well!

No! Your not a terrible fictional baby father. Don't feel bad. My step-mother gave my oldest a piece of dry toast when he was a year old and she gave him to big of a piece and he got it lodged in his throat and choked. I turned him upside down and patted his back till it dislodged from his throat and it scared me half to death. It's not bad to give a baby that is a year old a little bit of dry toast but you've got to be careful how big a piece. I don't know that some folks might not give their kids shredded wheat at that age and they do fine with it, but I kinda get a mental image of the shreds of wheat choking a baby at that age, so I wouldn't. I generally was giving my kids oatmeal and rice cereal from baby food bottles like gerbers when they were that age. But theres also the dry cereal... rice and oatmeal in the babyfood section that you mix with milk or possibly chocolate milk, although I've never tried it with chocolate milk. That sort of cereal Buffy could definately give to Mina. And she could even toss a little bit of applesauce into that mix. If you wanted to write it where there wasn't normal baby cereal in the house Buffy could probably also mix something like quaker oats oatmeal that comes in the little packets with a little bit more milk than what it calls for to water it down a little bit. Or even something like chocolate flavored malto-meal and put more milk in it so that it's not so thick. But with the adult oatmeal packets or the malto-meal she would have had to warm up the milk or water she used on the stove. And with my kids they love milk and chocolate milk especially, so that certainly would have pleased Mina I would think. I hope that helps you out for baby food ideas at 3 in the morning. (:

"You write Xander really darn well!" Thank you! I appreciate that. Still, for all the Xander fanfic stories I've read I think you've got him very consistently pegged.
I can just hear Nick's voice when I read your stuff alot of times as well as seeing Xander's mannerisms...like his shock and awkwardness at finding Buffy and Angel kissing or down in the kitchen when Buffy comes in and he's annoyed and grumpy but once he starts talking to her he never stays mad at her for long, all very good and Xanderlike. (:

*grins*

Thanks. I always enjoy writing Xander. No idea why I'm so hooked on the character, but I blame NB's performance more than anything :)
