Taxi drivers are real fun. Some of them definitely enter the Top 10 of my experiences this autumn. It's horrible how everything around me revolves around the SAT and unis...
Today. Taxi driver.
Me: "Romain Rolland", please.
Driver : Where is that?
Me: Uhm, next to the swimming pool...and the tennis courts...
Driver: Oh, yes, i got it. How is it called- Romeo Rolland or Romain Rolland?
Me: Romain Rolland
Driver: Strange, i've always thought it is "Romeo". He must be an Englishman, right?
Me: No, he's French.
Driver: Are you going to school.
Me: Yes...no...i have a meeting in front of the building.
Driver: I'm asking because you are not wearing a rucksack.
Me: Yes, i'll be off school this week. I'll have an exam on Saturday.
Driver: You must be a senior then?
Me: yes.
Driver: Where are you going to study?
Me: American Universities, Madrid maybe.
Driver: Your English must be perfect.
Me: Well, i try to speak it.
Driver: Harvard, yes? ( and then i was tempted to say YES)
Me: No.
Driver: Why not?
Me: ( I flung myself into the complicated babblage)
Driver: No, you MUST go to Harvard.
Me: Amm...
Driver: I know a guy who studies there...( and he retold me his biography)
Actually, Mirela had 1420 on the SAT just like me ( the CR + Maths) and she was accepted to Yale and Princeton. Wooow, so i stand a chance...but Dickinson rejected her, *speechless*. What irony! Anyway, i should have studied for those damn SAT II exams...i sometimes wonder whether i would choose SLU if i were accepted to Northwestern, for example...
