Oh this is LOVELY! I'm green with envy at looking at those nice clean lines you've made with graphite! Do tell your secret 'cause my efforts sure the heck don't look like that.
Thank you soooo much, hon! And I'll tell you my secret: First, I've been drawing on transparent paper which has a nice slightly glossy surface. I normally use that paper for my technical architectural drawings for uni, but it's just so great to draw on that I discovered it for my personal use, too. Second, I work with three pencils in 6H, HB and 3B. They add up perfectly, the 6H for all first sketching and very light shading (Kyle's hair), the HB for the light shading and the hatching of areas (nearly all of Kyle), the 3B for everything dark and precise (Marcus cyborg part, his eyes etc). And when working with transparent paper, you'll always have to pay attention to work from left to right and keep a clean paper under your hand at any time, the graphite smudges very easily on the glossy surface and that's nearly impossible to correct...
