I'm 29 and from Kansas. This will be my fifth year of doing NaNo. I won my second and third years, and came really close my first year. Last year, real life got in the way, but I'm back to give it another go.
I write Urban/Dark fantasy pretty exclusively and this year isn't going to be much different in terms of genre. Iam going to have a few new things this year. For one, it's a story set very close to home, and that's new for me. My MC lives and works in Kansas City. For another, she's a mother of two small children. I've never really written children at all, and I've certainly not written about motherhood. So, I'm a little nervous about this year's attempt.
When not writing, I watch way too much television, read a lot in a lot of genres, Do a lot of work with political groups, and cook a lot. So that's me. On the NaNoWriMo forums I'm DMCole.
My best friend and my sister are both attempting NaNo this year, but for the first time we're far apart, so I don't have much in the way of local support. I'd love so more online friends, though I don't know if I'll have the time to talk much.
