I love doing collaborations. Well, usually I love doing collaborations. I’ve done a fair number of them over the years and, for me, they go one of two ways. Either they are incredibly frustrating or they they totally awesome. Happily, more often than not they fall into the latter category.
Let’s try to have some successful collaborations this month between NaNoLJers members
These collaborations can be anything. It can be two people working on the same story/poem together, or you can combine other skills that you have together to make something awesome.
How:
If you want to participate check out the comments.
Has someone posted there saying they’d like a partner for this challenge? If so, reply to their post and partner up with them. You guys can take it from there, figuring out what you’re going to do and how you’re going to do it through email, private message or whatever works for you.
If no one has posted looking for a partner, then you get to. Leave a comment saying that you’re looking for a partner for this, and maybe share a little bit about yourself (what your hobbies are, what skills you have beyond writing) and wait for someone to reply to your comment to become your partner.
One of the biggest hurdles with collaborations is that while people start out with enthusiasm it can quickly deteriorate if you’re not careful. To counter that, we’re going to have a deadline. We’ll meet back here in a month (or sooner) and share what we’ve made together (or, if that’s not possible because you’re selling/publishing/giving it away/whatever, you’ll just tell us about it).
Only sign up if you are willing to follow through and make something awesome with someone else, but don’t let nerves keep you from jumping into the fray. It could be a lot of fun and you don’t want to miss out on that, do you?
If we have an odd number of participants I will partner up with the person who otherwise would be left out.
Here, by the way, is an example of what happened a while back when we had a NaNoLJers collaborative poetry project. Not only did we write something pretty cool, we got it published too
Sadly, the link to the poem itself is dead right now, but trust me, it was valid when I posted it LOL
